Code Talkers
Code Talkers are people that talk and use a coded language. They were used during World War II. If they needed to send a message to someone, they would use a radio. Sometimes the enemy could receive a message a Code Talker sent out and they could figure out where they were. This is why they made up a code for what they were trying to say. Also, Code Talkers could go places a lot of people could not go.
Axis Powers
Axis are people, groups, or nations that have joined together to become a team and fight in World War II. They were Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Allied Powers
Allies are people, groups, or nations that have joined together to become a team and fight in World War II. They were Britain, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Poland, Greece, and China.
Foxhole
Foxholes were used in World War II. It was a hole in the ground and they were used for protection when someone was shooting.
Malaria
Malaria is a type of disease from a mosquito. If a mosquito bites you, you have more chances of getting malaria. It was really bad in the old days that some people would die from it. Today we do not have to worry about it as much. It is mostly common in Africa so the people there would have to wear mosquito netting's to keep them away.
D-rations
D-rations were food for the United States Military. There was hard candy in it and it was made of sugar, oats, flour, and chocolate.
C-rations
C-rations were also made for the United States Military. This kind was canned food. Marines would complain about them. C-rations are also water proof and you had to use a knife to cut them open.
K-rations
K-rations were also made for the United States Military. K-rations would sometimes contain fruit drinks, toilet paper, peanuts, and chewing gum. They were better than C-rations. K-rations are also water proof and you had to use a knife to cut them open.
Seabees
Seabees were members of the Navy in the United States. They constructed battalions. Battalions are a large group of people who are ready to attack.
PT boats
They are small and very light weight boats that were used for the United States Marines in World War II.
Shells
Shells were huge bullets that were used in World War II.
Tanks
A tank is a combat vehicle that was used in World War II. It was used for shooting and it had machine guns on it.
DDT
The Marines had to us DDT poisoning during World War II. It was used to kill insects and creatures so they would not get malaria or any other diseases. They would have used a different chemical, but this is the only type of chemical they had. It was very dangerous to use.
Frogmen
They were people that went underwater during the war. They wore rubber flippers on their feet and wore air tanks on their back. They would travel in small rubber boats and enter an enemies territory.
Kamikazes
The Japanese used Kamikazes planes in World War II. They were suicide planes. People would sacrifice their life to kill Americans in the war. They would crash the plane no matter what. The Japanese people would see this as a good deed, and they would make some of the plane pilots martyrs.
Powwow
A Powwow was a North American party or ceremony. There would be singing dancing, and celebrating.
Ambush
An Ambush is a surprise attack. The Japanese soldiers surprised the United States Marines in World War II.
